Abstract
High income countries are facing rising health care costs with diminishing returns in outcomes. Digital health transformation unlocks new opportunities to improve patient outcomes. A paradigm shift is needed to an integrated ecosystem with proactive, personalized, digitially enabled care. To deliver this private and public health leaders need to work together to overcome these challenges. Ben Horner, Partner and Managing Director in the London office of Boston Consulting Group, will present how, if we do this, the future vision is closer than we think.
Speaker bio
Ben Horner is currently a Partner and Managing Director in the London office of Boston Consulting Group. He joined BCG in 2007 and led their work with the UK NHS and is also BCG Global Lead for Health Care Systems. Ben’s passion is to improve people’s lives through health care transformation and beyond. His experience at BCG includes strategy, innovation and transformation for providers, health systems and governments - utilising data and digital. This has included national policy development; integrated health system planning and delivery, new care model development and provider transformation. He also leads BCG’s partnership with WEF on Digital Health Transformation. Throughout his career Ben has focused on being disruptively innovative, building coalitions to deliver transformations in multiple health and care organisations, and policy to enable the change. Ben also spends time supporting BCG’s social impact work – including leading one of BCG’s major pro bono partnerships with Save the Children. Ben is former academic surgeon specialising in plastic and reconstructive surgery. His last role was a Fulbright Scholar at Harvard University, where he undertook a transatlantic collaborative PhD on face transplantation. Ben has degrees from Cambridge, Oxford and University College London.
